 | | You talk, talk, talk....
I have the new car itch too. The doc told me a year ago I should get a squishier car, but I decided to wait until after my spinal surgery in December, just in case that helped.
Nope. I feel every rut in the road these days. And CA roads are BAD.
So I've test-driven 11 cars, and the new Lexus RX350 is the current leader of the pack. DH is encouraging me to test drive the Cadillac SRX this weekend, and then I'm done and deciding.
I'm betting that I buy a car before you do. I've decided you're all talk, and no buy.

lol sandi.. you're right.. i admit that i'm yapping and daydreaming a little
i'll get a new car when it's absolutely necessary.. but for now i like not having a car payment.. but hey.. there's nothing wrong w/ shopping for the future right? =)
i hope you get that lexus.. i don't think you will be disappointed with the comfort and reliability.. toyotas/lexus' last forever.. my current has 186k miles and still rides like it is a year old

You make me laugh, kick_push. Maybe you should pick up a camera with a remote control and a tripod so you can take pictures of your bike *and* yourself.

My old roommate had one of those and they are quite comfortable. Even at high speeds you felt protected somehow lol. Its a great car I say go for it!

OK, kick_push - I just got an email from the Lexus dealer today...my "specially configured" RX350 is being built. Should arrive in CA by late November. I really am going to beat you on this, aren't I?

OK, I just jumped into this thread, so maybe I missed it, but: why are you buying a brand new luxury SUV?
This is a joke, right? Have I just been trolled?

The Acura MDX is a lot nicer car for the same price as the Lexus. I made the comparison and bought the MDX. But you really can't go wrong with either Toyota or Honda - both are great cars. They cost a little more than some others but after having spent a whopping $25 on maintenance for teh MDX in 3 years I am confident that my annual cost when I look back in 10 years will be less than some cheaper models. I've owned other cars, even other new cars. The quality of the Acura is unmatched. Everything just works the way it is supposed to and doesn't break.

Nope, no troll. I've posted why in my other auto thread, but in summary:
1) I've test-driven 12 cars, and this is the one that's most comfortable for my degenerating post-surgery neck.
2) It's a newly-configured suspension (very different from the 2009 model).
3) I'm saving 20% of my gross income already in retirement and savings. Debts paid off, house on 15 year fixed mortgage with prepayment.
4) I have had very bad experiences with used cars, even with a mechanically savvy husband. And the cost-benefit analysis is quite clear - if you keep the car for 7 years or more, the cost differential between buying a 2 year old car vs. new disappears.
