I like the fact that it matches the blog now, but I really don't care for the layout and the lack of contrast on the pages. I guess it just takes some getting used to.

It is a huge improvement for spam-clearing though... I can wipe out all the posts from one spammer in one fell swoop! Muwahahahaha!

I personally don't care for it, and the thread icons feel... unintuitive to me (even though the legend is listed on the bottom of the page).

Of course, that's only my personal opinion, and I agree that it matches up nicely with the blog, which is an overall plus.

More importantly, it's good to know that spam-fighting features have been beefed up, as that can be a huge forum headache for anyone has to work on that end.

That said, it sure would be nice if we had some way to select different themes like in other forums. But that's just me. Overall, good work on constantly maintaining and improving the site.

Yes, I needs a new theme. This one not good. At least, Firefox makes it very displeasing.

It would be nice if there was a stronger demarkation between posts; it is a bit difficult for the eye to skim threads with just a light grey streak between entried.

Frankly, I preferred the previous style, but I know I'm just a guest here and am grateful for all of the hard work you put into providing it for the masses (and PF geeks like me). It just seems so male, and so tech-geeky. (Ironically, the Slashdot forums seem *less* unfriendly than the new GRS look. And they have to be the near holy-grail of male-geekdom forums! )

Something I just noticed: Links don't really show up as links at all.

They are there, and they work, but they look visually identical to standard text. Anyone else notice this? Could be me, the fact that it's a little late, my monitor, or Firefox (3.5.7). The old forum was somewhat similar, but they were just a slightly different shade of green. They weren't bright blue and underlined, but they still stood out.

Other than that, it's just... different. I'm sure I'll get used to it. And if it makes things easier on the back end for the moderators, all the better! (aesthetics are not my strong point)

I've noticed this as well, and find it rather annoying, especially when I'm searching for possible spam. I'll have to see if there's something we can do about that...

Is there anything we can do about the fact that the forums now force me to widen my browser to almost the entire width of my screen to read them? Before, I could shrink my browser down into the corner and I'd only have to scroll vertically. Now, however, I'd have to scroll horizontally too, or resize my browser to be much, much wider.

Same here. I have to scroll horizontally to the right in order to see the full text.

The thing I like the very least about the new forum is the way it decides what threads have new posts.

I don't read every post in every forum section I go through and read the ones that I find interesting, and it used to be that I'd log in and see 7 threads at the top with "new posts" so I would open the 3 threads I've been following, read them, and leave the site. Next time I came back it would have marked all of the threads with "new posts" (since my last visit) at the top so I can repeat the process.

It seems the new forum determines it's a "new post" since last time I've viewed the particular thread (which for many is never) and they are constantly marked "new" even if there hasn't been a post since Jan 26th, simply because I haven't opened the thread that I don't want to read. Now I have whole pages with "New posts", which makes it aggrivating to try and read the threads that I'm interested in with new posts.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of it either. Mainly the weird colors/contrasts. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

The revamp/edit today is much nicer! I like it! Easier to see forums with new topics, and easier to read.

Glad you like it. We worked with the forum gnomes and gave them all your input. More good things to come
