Hey, I am Kyle C. from SuburbanDollar.com I am a late 20's dad just trying to survive the suburbs. I write about finance from the perspective of your average suburban dad.

I don’t pretend to know everything about finance, investing, real estate or any of the typical stuff you see on Finance Blogs.

In the past I have turned a very blind eye towards all things that have to do with my financial well being. I allowed my wife to handle all aspects of our finances, luckily she is smarter and better at it than I would have been, but recently I have become involved and intrigued and the opportunities that exist for anyone willing to pick up a book, as well as read some of the great blogs out there.

Hi

My name is Sarah and I am British but currently living in Portugal. I have been a keen follower of this forum for quite a while now and I think it is fantastic (even though a lot of the info is for US residents only).

Thanks
Sarah

hey everyone!

I cant remember if i wrote on this or not, but here it is-- my name is Melissa and I'm new to the work world having just graduated from University of Maryland last May. Therefore, even though I am one of the lucky few who got a job after graduation, I am broke and looking at blogs everywhere for some tips.

I work in Baltimore at a digital marketing company. I write for the websites and optimize their search engine potential. Actually, since I'm here, might as well do my job, right? We have some budgeting and finance sites that I actually think are pretty good sites. If you want to check them out, head to www.familyfinance.com, www.studentfinancedomain.com, www.retirementfinances.com and www.debitrewards.com. Those are all our sites that deal with finance, and seeing as this site is for personal finance, i figure they might help other people out.

Um, other than that? I live with my boyfriend and even though I'm only 23 I feel like I'm 50 because I go to bed every night around 10 (and yes, that includes Friday night). And I guess I should say this site has given me some interesting things to look for. I have a microblog at www.mrubinblog.tumblr.com and mrubin.soup.io so check em out if you're bored.

Cheers!

Melissa

Hi Everyone-

I am a former Wall Street trader and portfolio manager turned investment advisor (fee only, of course). I've been a long time reader of the blog, but just realized there was a forum for readers. Managing your own money is the ideal option for most people, and I want to support the DIY'ers here in any way I can. I am in complete agreement with using long-term asset allocations, and implementing them using either target date funds or index funds and ETFs.

Hello everyone.

I'm a young guy, 23, with only very little formal education. I won't go into why I don't have a formal education for now. I have a low paying job, under $10/h. I have chosen the name reboot because that is currently the situation I am in. I was doing pretty well. Even tho I've never seen this site before, there was a time not long ago where I was doing quite well, saving plenty of money, doing many of the tricks shown here that I figured out on my own. Well, I am a factory worker, and when the recession hit the factory I worked for got hit hard. I was laid off for over a year unable to find work due to lack of experience and formal education. Well I am working again, finally. After any debts I had were paid off I have been able save money and I now and the proud owner of a bank account once again. I have quite a few goals to meet just to get properly back on my feet, but I believe I am on the right track.

So I guess that's a little bit about me and the situation I've found myself in. I'll get more into detail as I am able to do more and as consequence have to give more info.

Hello,

My Name is Jonathan. I recently retired from my full time job to take up trading for a living. I learnt many years ago that there is no 'get rich quick scheme' that has any longevity to it. I think the best thing to do is to assess your talents & your interests, and then work out if you can make money from them. You may need a little further education, but if you can do something you really enjoy, and make money doing it, that is the ultimate way to grow your wealth.

Cheers
Jonathan :D

Hello all! My name is Scott. I'm a computer programmer. I feel kind of stupid admitting it, but I've been reading JD's blog for over a year and never realized that there was a forum! I love the comments to JD's articles and I'm hoping this forum will prove as helpful. I've always felt right at home here. I'm a huge fan of most of the things JD writes about: debt-free living (still not there yet), index funds, value averaging and seperate purpose-specific accounts. I use Quicken, YNAB and Excel to automate as much as possible.

Looking forward to talking to everyone :)

Hello Everyone!

My name is Chris. I live in the Portland, OR area. I've been pretty frugal for most of my life, so we are sitting fairly well at this point. But finances still interest me.

I'm a web developer and I'd love to have a web site that generates the income I need within the next 2 years. Then I'd be free to program on my own and spend more time with my family.

This is my first time registering to a blog site! I am 36, I live in Canada, and I have a husband and two small kids. My husband left his well paying IT contract job (mine just happened to be better paying) to stay home with our children 3 years ago.

We are fairly good planners with respect to finances but I'm looking for input and to read from others about what they are doing at this stage of their lives with respect to savings, retirement, 'having fun', etc. I own a small business which currently just has one employee (we were affected by the downtown in 2009).

Greetings! I'm a longtime lurker that has finally decided to register inorder to get some guidance on recent changes in my life.

I am in my mid-Twenties, well educated working professional and I live in New England. My wife works to and we have no kids and very little debt (student loans).

About 6 months ago, my wife received a sizable inheritence. I won't go into specifics, but it is large enough to feel overwhelmed as far as financial planning. Obviously we aren't in a rush to "put it to work", but we do need some sort of guidance...

Hopefully the answers I seek are here.

Hello everyone, my name is Brad, I live in Seattle, WA. I discovered this site about two years ago and I am so glad I found it. I've always been one to spend more than I earned and thanks to great sites like GRS I've gotten ahead of my debts and have gotten rd of many bad habits.
