I'm wondering if anyone is on this? I was thinking about creating a GRS group.

With the size of GRS increasing, I'd like to help members find other like minded folks in their areas. Either for close support for getting out of debt, financial talk, and a way to bring more awareness to the idea of frugality with moderation to our communities.

Ciao,

sjp

My understanding was that this was a business networking site used by recruiters. Is there a social networking aspect to it as well?

I've been using LinkedIn for a while and I've definitely found it helpful. It is more focused on business networking (though not just for job hunting/recruiting), but I think having a GRS group would be a great idea. I don't think it could be used in the way Jericho is thinking though because, while there's a Q&A section, it's not really group specific and it would just detract from the forum here.

Where I think it could be useful is for business networking. There seem to be several small business owners on the forums and linking us all together could be useful. I love giving referrals and if I can give them to people I'm personally connected to in some way I much prefer to do that. I vote yes. :-) And, if anyone wants to connect, feel free to send me an invite.

You can send me one.

Technically, I work pro-bono for JD, so I listed GRS

So we could all put "Contributor, GRS Forums" and build a network through orging that way

That would help with a keyword search. But we could also form a formal group which would be good publicity for the site IMO. The logo for official groups appears in your profile so that would get some visibility.

For example, this is my profile http://www.linkedin.com/in/personalfinance101. Towards the bottom you'll see the groups that I'm associated with. I know that I get curious about groups people belong to...

Here's how you create a group; http://www.linkedin.com/createGroup?displayCreate=

BTW, you know something funny, with all the people we know, the only connection we have is Dylan from here! lol I'd send you an invite, but I lost your email addy when I lost my laptop.

Thanks for doing this, Stephen. I need to get my LinkedIn page whipped into shape.

At some point I'm going to do a review of Never Eat Alone. At that time, I'll mention the LinkedIn group. Feel free to promote it in the meanwhile...

:)

It's on the list! It's on the list!

Of course, by the time I actually find the time to make this a reality, people will have brain implants with wireless transmitters, and podcasts will be done via the power of the mind...
