According to daughter told to leave, according to parents she willingingly left because she was not willing to live under their rules. She is enrolled in a private HS. Parents...

I really like the book your money or your life.
It is more of a philosophical book about life, than a strict "money" book but it can help focus some of your thoughts regarding saving and over all life plan, and what to prioritize.

Unless I'm being paid to write a paper on this subject or working for the government, for me it is immaterial what causes poverty in the US. I would, for me and my family, understand the things I can't change, and for the things that are under my control do the best I can to improve those. Whether i...

Article: generalize much? I guess the question, is knowing these generalizations helpful at all? I know people with these beliefs who fall on both sides of the rich spectrum. And some of the distinctions don't seem relevant at all as I don't hear people making those divisions, maybe it is the way ri...

Made me realize we are slowly displacing our parent's generation as the generation expected to give th...

I think that real estate may be a better deal than stocks, at this time (depending on where you live) but again you have to think about why she is making this change. She did it because she wanted more reliable income. Real estate can be risky. She will need to find the right property, and also have...

I'm not suffering yet, though lately being a government employee has made me feel like we are the favorite whipping boy. I especially feel for the EPA and NASA groups, who have been furloughed wholesale. I just hope the general public understands that the shutdown does not really save money, rather ...

I'm sorry to hear what you and your friend experienced. I'm in the Durham area but of course I think NC a good place to live. We have received memos that the Feds have recognized that the defense of marriage act is unconstitutional, and this applies to both federal employees and veterans. I haven't ...

This would have devastating effects on some studies especially animal based, because the studies are planned out far in advance and cannot simply be stopped or delayed. But hopefully congress will come to...
