I've already spent my tax refunds

Postby Adam » Tue Feb 10, 2009 10:37 am

I got about $2800 back between the feds and the state, and so I turned around and mailed out a check to pay of my TSP loan on Friday.

About two years ago I bought a house and took out a $6,000 loan from my retirement (TSP, think 401k). Well the payoff is something like $3005 through March, so once my check goes through I'll be in the clear (since another $5 will come out of my next paycheck to cover the difference).

So that's one debt down, and another $200 a month I can put towards something else.

Good job! I am always so tempted to blow my income tax refund on wants. It's great that you paid off a debt. Keep going. It gets easier.

Congrats! I can't wait to get my Student Loans paid off, though that is going to take a while o.O!

Good job! This year I got back over $6,000 which I quickly stuffed into my emergency fund before I got a chance to blow it. Two days later I learned that I am going to have to take a 5% cut in pay for 2009. The security of knowing that I had that difference covered was worth far more than any toy I could have purchased.

Check cleared today! So I killed a debt (to myself) and also boosted my retirement another $3,000 :)
