PURPOSE: To look back upon the past successes of my life, to encourage me in times of self-doubt.

My life missions:
1. Great Husband and Father
2. Great Entrepreneur
3. Great Benefactor

1991
Graduated from University - BA Commerce and Economics with honors.
Started professional career.

1993
Started saving money regularly.
Began tracking personal balance sheet monthly.

1994
Earned a Chartered Accountant designation.

1995
Travelled for business throughout: Canada, USA, Mexico, UK, China, Japan, Korea

1998
Earned a Certified Public Accountant designation.

1999
Married my wonderful wife. Life mission of Great Husband now underway.

2004
Quit my job.
Began entrepreneurial life. Life mission of Great Entrepreneur now underway.
Learned about: Real Estate. Tax Liens. Stock Market. Options. Blackjack. Ebay.
Began formal Mentoring relationship.
Made over $175,000 in sales.

2005
Overcame my first business hardship. Had to create a new income stream.

2006
Birth of our 1st child. She's a miracle. Life Mission of Great Father now begins.
Opened 4 new stores.
Sold my first store.
Made $30,000 playing blackjack.

2007
Opened my most successful location. Learned the power of great location and great staff.
Made my first $1,000,000 in sales.
Quit the accounting profession.

2008
Opened my first mall location.
Opened my first warehouse office. Learned fixed cost reductions from warehouse consolidation.
Paid off our mortgage.
Note: Mortgage payoff done within 9 years. Bought a home smaller and cheaper than our friends were buying. Negotiated hard on price. Negotiated mortgage for best terms and rate. Made bi-weekly payments rather than monthly. Made double-up payments each time to attack the principal faster. Used tax refunds to make anniversary principal pay-downs.
Gave over $23,000 to various Charities. Life Mission of Great Benefactor still in evidence.

2009
Raised wages of all staff.
Passed my company's first tax audit.
Note: I dreaded the audit for 6 months. Finally went through it, and instead of owing a dime, after 2 days I persuaded my case and the auditor agreed my company was eligible for a refund!
Celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Still in love.
Bought our 3rd used car, ending a costly lease.

Impressive! What kind of business are you in, if you don't mind me asking?

Sounds like you are living the perfect life and achieving all your goals! :D
Anyway, success doesn't come without any hurdles - do you mind sharing some of the obstacles you encountered and how you dealt with them! I guess that would be interesting to many!

Thanks for replying, everyone. It appears we have a decent cross-section of people here and a lot of well thought-out discussion.
